HONOLULU, HAWAII—The Honolulu Academy of Arts is participating in Blue Star MuseumS, a partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, and more than 700 museums across America, to offer free admission to all active-duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2010.
Other Hawaii museums participating in the program are The Contemporary Museum, Lyon Arboretum and Lyman Museum.
Active-duty military personnel and their families simply need to show valid ID at the museum’s front desk to gain free entry to the museum.
“In appreciation of their service, the Academy welcomes the islands’ military personnel and their families. The transformative experience that the museum’s art and programs offer are our small gift to them,” says Interim Director Lynne Johnson.
