NEW FMWR Calendar Feature — Visit the FMWR website at http://www.trumba.com/calendars/MWR_calendar  and check out the brand new calendar feature. Quality instructional classes for children 6 months through seniors in high school.

All children and youth must be enrolled in SKIESUnlimited or a member of Child & Youth Services.  SKIES is a one time fee of $18.00 and requires only proof of age. 

Army housing residents; for new residents-  Army Hawaii Family Housing (AHFH) will enroll your child(ren) in SKIESUnlimited free of charge.  You not only save money but, enrollment time.  Ask your AHFH representative at time of signing for your new home. 

AHFH also subsidizes class fees for Gymboree and Mad Science for AHFH residents.  SKIES and AHFH in partnership for quality communities, a winning team.

School of Arts:

Piano & Voice, classes are conducted at Aliamanu and Schofield Bks, on a weekly basis.  Private classes are $95.00 per month and group classes are $55.00.

Cinema Dance Classes, 3-5 year old classes; 6-9 year old classes and Urban Cinema, 8 years old and up.  Classes are held at Schofield Bks and are $33.00 per month.  New 2 year old Cinema Rhythm  & 3-5 year old Cinema dance for students attending selected CDC centers.

Cinematography Classes for 9-14 years of age.  Students will learn to capture images using digital photography and video. Use editing software to mix sound and images to tell a story.   Classes are held at Schofield Bks and are $33.00 per month.

MusicWorks – off post discount for Piano & Composition, Guitar, Ukulele, Voice, Percussion and Rock School.  Located in the Pearlridge Shopping Center, Uptown.  Visit our CYS Registration Offices for your free discount card.

Gymboree – Music for children 6 months to 5 years old.  Offering both parent/guardian and drop off classes at Schofield Bks.  $33.00 per month for Army Hawaii Family Housing resident and $53.00 per month for not residents.

School of Life Skills:

Driver Education – sessions are 5 ½ weeks; session includes 32 hours of classroom instruction and approx 6 hours behind the wheel.  Youth must have a Hawaii Learners permit.  Session is $295.00.  Telephone SKIES for class schedule and or to make an appointment to prepare for taking this class.

Teen Employment - .Classes are held in the spring each year to assist teens 15 years old and up to apply for summer jobs.  Classes are free.

CYS Babysitter Course & CPR, First Aid Classes – Classes are held throughout the year at Schofield Bks and Aliamanu Military Reserve.  Free of Charge when registering for the Babysitter Referral.  Telephone SKIES for class schedule.

Teen Leadership, Teambuilding and Self Esteem – Telephone SKIES for current schedules.  All free!

School of Sports:

Kenpo Karate, 5 years old and up.  Classes held at Ft Shafter, Aliamanu, Schofield Bks and Helemano.  $35.00 per month, family discounts available.

Taekwondo Karate, 6 years old and up.  Classes are held at Schofield Bks. $35.00 per month, family discounts available.

Little Ninja & Me, Taekwondo classes for 3-5 years old with parent/guardian.  Classes are held at Schofield Bks, $35.00 per month, family discounts available.

Little Ninjas, Taekwondo classes for 3-5 year olds in Child Development Centers at Schofield Bks, and Aliamanu, $35.00 per month, family discounts available.

Gymnastics:

What’s Up Gymnastics offers a wide variety of gymnastics classes for children 1 year old through teenagers at a military discount.  Located in Waipo very close for families living in the Schofield, WAAF & HMR areas.  See our CYS Registration Offices for free discount cards.

Hawai’i Academy offers a wide variety of gymnastics classes for children 1 year old through teenagers at military discount.  Located in Kalihi very close for families living in the Ft Shafter, AMR or TAMC areas.  See our CYS Registration Offices for free discount cards.

School of Academics:

Sign Language, for children 4 years old and up, also Baby Sign Language.  Telephone SKIES for current schedule. 

Mad Science, elementary school age.  A wide variety of science topics are offered throughout the year at Schofield Bks and Aliamanu.  Six week sessions, include weekly hands-on projects to bring home are $60.00 for Army Hawaii Family Housing residents and $105.00 for non-residents.  Telephone SKIES for current schedule.

Tutoring, for school age youth, K-12th grades at Schofield Bks, free of charge.  Telephone for SKIES to enroll.

SKIESUnlimited is always looking for volunteers to share their talents and hobbies with children and youth; free training available.

Family Child Care — Individuals interested in caring for children in their home should inquire with the CYS, Family Child Care Program. Benefits include free training, additional income and flexible hours.

Brazilian Capoeira — Develop the mind, body and spirit to include physical fitness, self-defense and self-discipline through Brazilian Capoeira. Classes are offered Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Fort Shafter Physical Fitness Center.

Karate Classes — Hawaii Okinawa Karate Do Shodukan classes are offered at the Fort Shafter Physical Fitness Center, Thursdays from 6 to 7:45 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 to 2:45 p.m.

Cardio Kickboxing — Cardio kickboxing can help develop cardio-vascular fitness, improve balance, and may enhance self-confidence.

Group Cycling — Participants can use stationary bikes and drills to work out during group cycling. With tension and resistance, individuals can simulate up and downhill climbs to provide challenging experiences.

Aerobic Classes — Tripler Army Medical Center and Fort Shafter Gyms are offering $1 per class per person aerobics classes.

At TAMC, classes offered are step aerobics and beginning to intermediate cardio-kickboxing. Classes will be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 4:30 p.m. At Fort Shafter, cardio- kickboxing will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. For more information, call 433-2031.

Muscle Moves — Tone your muscles using a variety of equipment, including bands, dumbbells, exercise balls and more. Classes are offered every Friday at the Schofield Barracks Health and Fitness Center at 11:45 a.m. Call 655-8007 for more details.

Run/Walk/Swim Club — Record each mile you run, walk or swim and win incentive prizes in the 100-mile run/walk and 50-mile swim clubs. Runners receive a pair of Thorlo running socks, and swimmers receive goggles.

Yoga — Relish the traditional approach to yoga that aids relaxation, and strengthening and lengthening muscles. Techniques can be modified based upon an on individual ’s skill level.

Scuba Club — Join the Scuba Club for only $7 a month and get free air fills , and a 10 percent discount on all your scuba equipment rentals.

Scuba Classes — Scuba class provides individuals with an opportunity to earn their PADI certification during two weekends for only $175.

Instruction is held Saturdays and Sundays at various locations depending on class content and skills being taught. Call 655-0143 for more information.

Water Aerobics — Come for a new and exciting workout at Richardson Pool. July classes will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. There is a $2 fee per class or a punch card will be available for $15. Water aerobics provide a safe and effective exercise alternative that improves your overall level of fitness without stress on the joints. For more information, call 655-1128.

Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers — Want to get involved in the community and don’t know how? Join BOSS on one of its many volunteer outings.

BOSS works with many groups within the community such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Honolulu, Bowl Games of Hawaii and the PGA, as well as organizations exclusive to the Army family like the Exceptional Family Member Program and Army Community Service.

Paperback Book Kits —The Sgt. Yano library, Schofield Barracks, will issue paperback book kits to deploying units. For more information, call 655-9143.

Story Time — Nurture your preschooler’s love for reading at your Army library story time.

Preschool story time is held Tuesdays at the Fort Shafter library, Wednesdays at the Sgt. Yano library and Thursdays at the Aliamanu library.

All story times begin at 10 a.m.

Video Messenger — Deploying Soldiers are invited to participate in the “Read to the Kids” pre-deployment program at the Sgt. Yano library. DVD or VHS recordings will be made of you reading your child’s favorite stories.

The video messenger can also be used to record birthday, anniversary, and holiday messages. For more information or to make an appointment, call 655-8002.

Nueva en la Biblioteca — The Sgt. Yano Library on Schofield Barracks now has a collection of books and videocassettes in Spanish. Books are available for children of all ages along with a wide selection of adult fiction.

Storage Shed Rentals — Many8-feet by 6-feet sheds are available for rental at $40 per month at Schofield Barracks or Fort Shafter. For more information, call 655-9368 ( Schofield Auto Craft Center) or 438-9402 ( Fort Shafter Auto Craft Center).

Salvage Yard Auto Sales — Fort Shafter and Schofield Barracks Salvage Yards will be sponsoring sealed bid auto sales twice a month. Bidding will end on the first and third Saturdays of each month, and the highest bidder will be notified the following day.

DoD Employees — Don’t have the time to take your auto in for an oil change, tire rotation or balancing? The staff at the Auto Craft Shop do!

The craft shop can complete these jobs and many other services while you are at work.

Auto Safety and Training — “At Ease Automotive Training” and “Ensuring Auto Safety for Everyone” are taught at the Schofield Barracks Auto Craft Center on the second Friday of each month from 9 to 10 a.m.

Learn how to properly check your auto’s fluid levels and basic safety checks prior to driving your vehicle.

Registration is required by the Sunday prior to the class start date. Special sessions can be arranged for groups of four to six.

Auto Crafts Car Care — The Fort Shafter and Schofield Barracks Auto Craft Shops offer oil change, tire repair patch, tire demount/mount, tire rotations, transmission service and wheel balance services by appointment only on Wednesdays and Thursdays

The staff will provide services while the customer supplies the parts and fluids (oils) for the vehicle. Prices vary by service needed.

Auto Detailing — The Schofield Barracks Auto Skills Center is offering a new auto detailing service for a limited time. To make an appointment or to find out more information, call 655-9368.

Arts and Crafts Classes — The Arts and Crafts centers on Schofield Barracks and Fort Shafter offer a variety of classes including ukulele making, stained glass, pottery classes, framing and matting, and woodshop.

Tropic Lightning Museum — Come visit the Tropic Lightning Museum, Schofield Barracks, to learn about the rich history of the 25 th Infantry Division and Wheeler Army Airfield. Public and Private Tours, and Sergeant’s time training programs are available. Every Saturday at 1 p.m. a free war movie or documentary is shown. For more information call 655-8301.

MWR Pet Kennel — Located at the Halawa Quarantine Station in Halawa Valley, the MWR pet kennel is available for military personnel deploying, awaiting permanent housing or just going on vacation.

The facility is an outdoor boarding facility for cats and dogs only. Fees for dogs are $14. The second family dog boarding in the same kennel is $10. Cats are $10 per day. The second family cat boarding in the same kennel is $5.

Mystery Shopper Program — Volunteers are needed for the Mystery Shopper Program. Volunteers shop anonymously at various MWR facilities or activities to provide feedback and identify employees who provide legendary service.

Approximately three hours may be required for each assignment, and shoppers will be provided any required spending money.

Outdoor Recreation Rentals Outdoor recreation can supply all your party needs to include tables, chairs, canopies, inflatables and even a dunk tank for the kids. Not having a party, going camping instead? Outdoor Recreation can supply you with all the gear, from tents and coolers to stoves. Outdoor Recreation is open everyday, except Tuesday. RecTrac Registration — The Department of the Army has instituted a tracking system for Morale, Welfare and Recreation to better serve its customers, monitor usage and assist in obtaining funding support programs.

To participate in MWR programs, you are required to complete a simple registration process. No fees are charged, and the process takes less than five minutes.

In lieu of using sign-in sheets, customers only need to scan their ID cards each time they visit a facility or program. Scanners are designed to read bar codes located on the back of the ID card of eligible patrons.

Programs affected include physical fitness centers; swimming pools; craft shops; recreation centers; outdoor recreation equipment checkout; Information, Ticketing, and Registration; and access theater productions.
