Services:
Children’s Programs : Visit one of our libraries with
your children and introduce them to the pleasures of
reading. Throughout the year, a variety of programs are
offered to include: pre-school story times, craft
activities, live performances, and summer reading club.
Programs:
Video Story Time : The video story time offers
military parents the opportunity to read to their children
even if the parent is deployed. The library will provide
video equipment to make a videocassette or DVD, and books
for parents to tape a story time for their children. Call
655-8002 to make an appointment to create a video story
time. All military personnel are welcome, but preference
will be given to those personnel who will be deploying.
Public Internet Access : Internet access is available
to library customers to conduct research, participate in
distance learning, as well as stay in touch with family and
friends.
Spanish Language Materials: Sgt Yano Library offers
materials for children and adults in Spanish. With an
internet connection you can view the titles available by
searching our online catalog,

. Click on the “WebCat” logo and then click on the “Power
Search” button. Type “Spanish Collection” in the location
field, then click on the “Search” button.
Online Library Catalog : The Army library system is
an integrated library system. IBistro (PACOM Hawaii
Libraries’ online catalog) permits public access to both
Oahu Army and Air Force library holdings. The URL is: http://dodhawaiilibraries.org

Online Research Databases : ProQuest Research Library
is available at all of the Army Oahu libraries. The New York
Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and Christian
Science Monitor are indexed as well as periodicals that
cover a broad range of subjects including arts, business,
education, health, psychology, sciences, and social
sciences.
The US Army Community and Family Support Center has funded
numerous databases that are available from library computers
or from other locations via AKO (Army Knowledge Online).
These databases are:
Ebsco Academic and MasterFile Search Premier & Military and
Government Collection, Auto Repair Reference Center
NetLibrary (US Army General Library E-Books Collection),
Peterson’s Online Resource Center, and Gale Student Resource
Center.

Copy Services : Self-service coin-operated photocopy
machines are available for public use. Microfiche
reader/printers are available at Sgt Yano and Fort Shafter
Libraries. Copies are ten (10) cents per print.
Ink Jet Cartridge Recycling : Don't throw away that
empty ink jet or toner cartridge. Recycle it at any of our
libraries. The libraries will be paid for every cartridge in
good condition selected for re-manufacturing.
