Army Community Theatre has been serving the military
and civilian communities since 1942 and is located at
Richardson Theatre, Fort Shafter. ACT presents a season
of four major Broadway musicals and four plays in
Readers Theatre format. ACT was the first community
theatre in America to secure the amateur rights for MISS
SAIGON, CATS, CURTAINS and was one of nine selected to
perform in the American Association of Community
Theatre's competition in 2007.
Tickets are reasonably priced (with season discounts
available) and all seating is reserved. Curtain time for

Theatrical auditions are held in support of scheduled
productions and are "Open the Public". Rehearsals are
conducted nightly for 6-8 weeks which include: vocal
coaching; dancing instruction; and direction in acting.
Seventeen young performers got their start at ACT and
went on to Broadway. Technical theatre, to include set
construction, costuming, building props, and lighting,
are ongoing. The orchestras, crews and actors all
