FACILITATOR

Role:

The facilitator’s job is to manage the work group so that it achieves its goals. As the neutral steward of the group, the facilitator will be directing the group’s activity and discussion.

Techniques:

· Get agreement on group roles before beginning.

· Use appropriate questions to stimulate discussion.

· Support and keep Subject Matter Experts (SME) in their roles.

· Support and keep Recorders in their roles.

· Be flexible.

· Help the group understand the group process.

· Keep group to posted schedule.

Cautions:

· Do not evaluate to contribute Ideas.

· Listen at least twice as much as you speak.

· Be positive, not defensive.
