Exceptional Family Member New Parent Support

Exceptional Family Member
Exceptional Family MemberThe Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is a one-stop advocacy resource for families where one or more members is qualified with a medical, mental health or educational disability or will requires special services or medication in the next five years. This program works directly with medical (Tripler and regionally designated hospitals) for clearance for command sponsorship. This program works with Child and Youth Services to complete Special Needs Resource Teams to accommodate children with special needs in to CYS programs and sports activities. The EFMP program also reinforces permanent change of station to inform the gaining command when soldiers are being transferred to other units and installations. The EFMP program manager works under the supervision of the FAPM.

The program’s objectives:
Advocate resource for families with special needs
Command resource for helping EFM families
Maintain accountability of persons on installation and requiring special needs resources
Work with families to resolve special needs issues to include, resources, housing, education and child services
